Before you start

Measuring your blinds correctly ensures they hang beautifully straight and are easy to install. It's worth taking your time to get this right.

⚠️ WATCH OUT FOR OBSTACLES
Look out for anything that could get in the way of your blinds, such as a door handle or a tilt window.

💡 DON'T MIX UP WIDTH AND HEIGHT
Width is the horizontal measurement, height the vertical one. Double-check they're in the right fields when ordering — it's the most common (and most annoying) mistake.

Inside or outside the recess?

Choose inside the recess when the blind needs to sit exactly between two walls, or between ceiling and windowsill — it fits snugly inside the frame. Go for outside the recess when the blind hangs in front of the frame or floats against the wall.

Measuring your blind inside the recess.

1. Take the smallest width

Measure the width of the recess in 3 places and take the smallest measurement. Subtract 10 millimetres (1 cm). This exact size is what we produce.

2. Take the largest height

Measure the height of the recess in 3 places and take the largest measurement. Subtract 10 millimetres (1 cm). Due to the fixed slat spacing, the final height may differ slightly from the size you enter.

3. Enter your measurements

You'll need the two measurements you wrote down. Enter these as dimensions — in millimetres — when ordering your Mr. Jealousy.

Measuring your blind outside the recess.

1. Width plus 10 cm

The width of your blinds is up to you. Blinds look best when they're wider than the window, so we recommend adding a total of 10 cm (5 cm per side) to the width of the window.

2. Height plus stack height

Measure the height* from the bottom of the window to the top of the frame. Then add the stack height: the total height of the blind when fully raised, including the headrail and bottom rail. You'll find these measurements at the bottom of this page.

Measure the height and subtract 10 mm. No need to add the stack height.

3. Enter your measurements

You'll need the two measurements you wrote down. Enter these as dimensions — in millimetres — when ordering your Mr. Jealousy.

Stack height

The stack height is the total height of the blind when fully raised — including the headrail and bottom rail. It depends on the height of the blind and varies by slat width and ladder type. Stack heights are always indicative.

Mounting your blind inside the recess

1. Position the brackets

Place the brackets roughly 7 to 12 cm* from the corner of the recess and screw them firmly in place. When marking, make sure they don't block the mechanism in the headrail. Using more than 2 brackets? Space them out evenly.

⚠️ *MIND THE MECHANISM
Check that the bracket doesn't rest on the controls or spool inside the headrail. If it does, shift the bracket past the spool towards the middle.

2. Click the headrail in place

Place the headrail in the brackets. Press the hinged clip shut. *Click* means it's secure.

⚠️ CLIP HARD TO CLOSE?
Closing the clips should feel smooth. Not working, or taking a lot of force? Check for a blockage (see step 1).

3. Attach the cord cleats

Attaching the cord cleats is optional, but it's the safe and tidy choice — especially with children around.

Mounting your blind outside the recess

1. Mark it out

Hold your blind above the window and mark both ends with a pencil.

2. Position the brackets

Place the brackets roughly 7 to 12 cm* inside your freshly drawn marks, keeping the total height of your blind in mind. When marking, make sure they don't block the mechanism in the headrail. Using more than 2 brackets? Space them out evenly.

Check that the bracket doesn't rest on the controls or spool at the top. If it does, shift it towards the middle.

3. Click the headrail in place

Place the headrail in the brackets. Press the hinged clip shut. *Click* means it's secure.

4. Attach the cord cleats

Side guidance

Blinds with side guidance come with 4 extra plastic supports and a guide wire in the box. Use the L-shaped supports for mounting on the frame (outside the recess) and the smaller supports for fixing to the glazing bead or windowsill (inside the recess).

Side guidance without drilling

Chosen side guidance without drilling? You'll find 4 clamp brackets in the box. Clamp these to the top and bottom of the moving part of the frame, then follow the regular mounting instructions.

1. Fit the cord

Place the metal guide cord in the headrail of the blind and keep the spring in the middle. Thread the cord through the notch in the blind.

2. Position the supports

Position the supports so the guide wire runs straight down from the headrail.

3. Fit the fixing ring

Slide the fixing ring over the guide wire.

4. Adjust the fixing ring

Tighten the fixing ring at bracket height while pulling the guide wire slightly taut.

5. Trim the wire

Cut off the excess wire and push the fixing ring firmly into the bracket.

Think of the children

Loose cords and children are not a good combination. Children can strangle in pull cords. To prevent this, follow the instructions below.
- Keep all loose cords out of children's reach.
- Place beds, cots and other furniture away from the window.
- Don't tie cords together. Make sure cords can't form a loop or get tangled.
- All our blinds come fitted with a Child Safety system.
Slat Size

Slat widths.

The wider the slat, the more light enters and the better you can see the outside world. For smaller windows, narrower slats (25mm) are often best.

For wooden and bamboo blinds we offer 50mm and 65mm slat widths.

Inside or outside the recess

Inside or outside the recess.

Inside the recess

A blind hangs inside the recess when it sits between the walls or window frames. The sides are usually out of sight. This is where made-to-measure really comes into its own.

Outside the recess

A blind hangs outside the recess when it hangs freely in front of the frame, wall or ceiling. Here the sides of the blind are usually visible.

Hanging your blinds between ceiling and windowsill? That counts as outside the recess too, but for the height you follow the inside-the-recess measuring instructions.
Ladder cord and tape

Ladder cords

If you go for ladder cords, you can choose a colour that matches your blinds, or simply black or white. Blinds with ladder cords have a modern look and let plenty of light through.

Ladder tapes

Ladder tapes are elegant fabric tapes, 25 mm wide. They cover the perforation holes so you no longer see them. By default we go for the colour that suits best, but you're welcome to choose black or white.

Choose ladder tape for a stylish finish and extra darkening. Note: ladder tapes are only available for slats of 50 mm and 65 mm wide.
Control side

Control side.

With our blinds you can choose from different control sides. Here we explain the differences and when to choose which option.

Shared control

In most cases shared control is the best choice. This means you lift on the left and tilt on the right. It works perfectly for single windows.

⚠️ Note:
For blinds narrower than 500 mm, the controls are always separate.

Control on the left or right

Hanging several blinds side by side? Then choose the control on the left or right, so no cords are visible in front of the window.

Example: two windows side by side

Say you have two windows next to each other. Choose the control on the left for the left window and on the right for the right window.

Example: three windows side by side

Three windows in a row? Choose the control on the left for the left window, shared control for the middle one, and on the right for the right window.

Tilting with cord or wand

On 50 mm and 65 mm blinds, both tilting and lifting are done with a cord. On 25 mm blinds, tilting is done with a transparent wand.
Headrail and bottom rail

Headrail & bottom rail.

Blinds always have a headrail and a bottom rail. In most cases they come in the same colour as the slats you've chosen. There are a few exceptions, though.

Wooden blinds always have the same headrail and bottom rail.

With wooden blinds, the headrail and bottom rail are always in the same wood colour as your choice. We always supply a cover strip and bottom rail in the same wood colour and finish for your Mr. Jealousy, so there's no colour difference.

Cover strip outside the recess:
The cover strip has protruding ends, so it covers both the front and the sides of the headrail.

Cover strip inside the recess:
The cover strip consists of a front only, without protruding ends.

Aluminium blinds always have a matching headrail and bottom rail.

Usually this colour matches the slats. If that's not possible, we pick a shade that goes well with them. Don't worry: once the blinds are up and lowered, the way the light falls gives a beautiful combined look.

If a black or white headrail and bottom rail suit your window frames or interior better, you can choose that too. The black headrail is available in Drop Zwart, and the white one in Looks Like 9010.

Cut-out

Cut-out for skirting boards and obstacles

Going for blinds inside the recess that run all the way to the floor? Or is your frame partly tiled? Then your blinds might not fit or line up neatly in your frame.

For that, you can add a cut-out at the bottom of your blinds*. So the lower part sits neatly between the skirting boards or tiles. Nice and clean.

Simply enter the width and height of the skirting board, tile or obstacle, and indicate whether it should be cut out on the left, right or both sides.

*A cut-out at the bottom can't be combined with side guidance.

Side guidance

Side guidance keeps the blind in place.

All our blinds can be fitted with side guidance. Side guidance really comes into its own on doors or windows you can open, such as tilt-and-turn windows. It's also handy in frames where windows are often left open.

The blinds stay neatly in place when you open the window or when it's windy, thanks to a tensioned steel wire along the sides of the blinds.

In most cases we recommend 25 mm blinds for side guidance on tilt-and-turn windows. If you have enough space, or mainly want to fix the blinds in or on the frame, 50 mm blinds are a great choice too. Just make sure your window can still turn smoothly.

Measuring outside the recess (on the moving window / without drilling)

1. Measure the width.

Measure from the inside of the handle to roughly the same distance on the other side of the frame, so the blind hangs centred on the window.

2. Measure the height.

Measure from the top of the frame to the bottom of the frame. No need to allow for the stack height.

3. Enter these measurements.

You'll need the two measurements you wrote down. Enter them as dimensions — in millimetres — when ordering your Mr. Jealousy. We produce these exact sizes.

Measuring inside the recess (against the glass, between the glazing beads / with drilling)

1. Measure the width.

Measure the width of the window. Subtract 10 mm. Make sure there's enough room/depth in the glazing bead to mount your bracket.

2. Measure the height.

Measure the height of the window. Subtract 10 mm.

3. Enter these measurements.

You'll need the two measurements you wrote down. Enter them as dimensions — in millimetres — when ordering your Mr. Jealousy. We produce these exact sizes.

⚠️ Note: Side guidance without drilling is only suitable for 25 mm and goes on the frame. It doesn't fit between glazing beads.

Mounting side guidance

If you've ordered blinds with side guidance, you'll find 4 extra plastic brackets in the box, plus a guide wire. The L-shaped brackets are for mounting on the frame, so outside the recess. The smaller brackets are for fixing the blinds to the glazing bead or windowsill, so inside the recess.

Side guidance without drilling (outside the recess)

If you chose side guidance without drilling, you'll find 4 clamp brackets in the box. Clamp these around the frame at the top and bottom of the moving part, then follow the regular mounting instructions.

1. Place the cord.

Place the metal guide cord in the headrail of the blinds and keep the spring in the middle. Thread the cord through the notches on both sides of the blinds.

2. Fit the (clamp) brackets.

Position the brackets so the guide wire runs straight down from the headrail.

3. Fit the locking ring.

Slide the locking ring over the guide wire.

4. Adjust the locking ring.

Tighten the locking ring at the height of the brackets while pulling the guide wire slightly taut.

5. Trim the wire.

Cut off the excess wire and slide the locking ring into the brackets. If the wire feels a little slack, adjust the locking ring until it's tight enough.

Measured wrong? No stress. With the Measurement Guarantee we'll sort it out. Doesn't your blind fit? We'll make a new one to the correct size — or shorten it if it's too long. Order without worries.

How does it work?

For €12 per blind, you add the Measurement Guarantee while placing your order. It can't be added afterwards. The guarantee can be used once per order.

Made a measuring mistake after all?

Report it within 28 days of delivery via email or WhatsApp. Send a photo of the window with a visible tape measure and share the new, correct measurements. We'll check everything with you and get to work right away.

For the replacement blind you only pay the shipping costs of €29. Is the new size larger than the original? Then you pay the price difference.
